Focus on Partnerships to Get More from Campus Recruiting

As campus recruiting campaigns wind down, it’s time to examine results against goal. If your team’s been making the rounds, you already know recruiting competition on campus is tougher than ever. In fact, a recent Forbes article points to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ latest unemployment rate for college grads of 2.5%, a figure that contradicts media stories of widespread under- or unemployment for those with a college degree. And, new employees sourced from colleges and universities remain gold: Nearly 70% of campus hires stay with their employer for five years, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

Montage Webinar Helps TA Leaders Collaborate with Hiring Managers

Could your hiring manager be the reason your top candidate just declined your job offer? Absolutely. In research commissioned by Montage with 200 active job seekers, 32% indicated they declined a job offer within the past six months primarily because of the hiring experience itself. It takes skill and experience to deliver a great candidate experience during an interview, and not all hiring managers are up to speed in this area.

Stop! Think! 5 Reasons to Make Video Interviewing Your Priority Today

We’re in the business of making our clients’ hiring better and their recruiters’ jobs easier. As I’m talking with TA professionals who genuinely see the benefits of purpose built video hiring, from time to time I get an email like this: “I have not had 5 minutes to think about this [video interviewing] proposal since we met.  We just have too many competing priorities. I just don't know yet when it is going to get better. We are down on staffing and just trying to tread water.” This time crunch is typical in many companies these days, and I can only imagine the stress HR is under. Still, I’m more excited than discouraged by this kind of message because it means our voice and video interviewing solution can bring some relief and forward hiring progress to another organization.

Show Off Your Collaborative Side

If you doubted the existence of the collaboration revolution happening in today’s workplace, it's time to become a believer. Research data released by Randstad reveals that young employees place a high value on collaboration. According to the Gen Z & Millennials Collide @ Work report, employees ages 22 to 34 prefer to communicate with co-workers and managers in person rather than by email or phone. And, 41% of Gen Z respondents said corporate offices are their workplace preference.

To attract young workers with the greatest potential, companies want to highlight their collaborative work environment during the hiring process. That’s been easier said than done, until now. With purpose-built video interviewing technology, TA professionals can show candidates their collaborative workplace instead of just talking about it.

Why Your Job Candidates Lose Interest (and What to Do About It)

New research indicates nearly one quarter of candidates (23%) lose interest in a potential employer if they don’t hear back from that company within a week of their initial interview. Wait more than two weeks, and you’ve lost the attention of another 46%.  This is a hard truth for TA teams doing their best to cope with talent shortages and high-pressure hiring demands. Still, it is the reality. In a candidate-driven market, hiring processes have to align closely with candidate expectations to keep them engaged.

Getting Your Company to Buy Into the Candidate Experience

So much of talent acquisition news today concerns the candidate experience, and TA professionals know why: 86% of recruiters say the job market is candidate-driven in their industry sectors. They realize their hiring process must with align with candidates’ expectations or they’re just spinning their wheels. However, not everyone inside an organization may see the need to put time and resources into delivering a great candidate experience. Some TA departments face an uphill battle when it comes to making the changes required. We’ve certainly seen this in our experience with potential new video interviewing clients.

Software Advice says Skype Falls Short in Business Recruiting

There’s a new article out by Software Advice, a company that hosts reviews of interview solutions, which hits a long-time Montage message further out of the park: Skype is not suited for the business of hiring. According to author Brian Westfall, senior market research associate at Software Advice, "Although many recruiters use Skype to conduct video interviews with candidates, if organizations want to get serious about shortening their time to hire and truly finding the best candidate for the job, especially
as they grow and the number of applicants per position becomes overwhelming, they need to invest in a dedicated video recruiting platform to improve candidate experience."
While Montage’s own research proves this point, it’s nice to see it stated so succinctly by a leading IT research and advisory company too.
