Making Virtual Teams Stronger with Video Technology

Like any smart technology company, here at Montage we eat our own cooking, as the phrase goes. Our video interviewing platform is integral to our hiring work flow, not just interviewing but sourcing and onboarding too.  It’s also fair to say we’ve expanded the menu: We use our technology every day to support collaboration within our virtual inside sales team.  A lot of companies have virtual teams. In fact, 82% of companies that made Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list allow employees to telecommute or work at home at least 20% of the time. At Montage, we’ve found a virtual team offers many benefits, and what’s more, collaboration via video makes our team even stronger.

How Wendy Petersen Keeps the Loop Closed for Our Clients

When I sat down to talk with Senior Client Support Rep Wendy Petersen in preparation for this blog, I was pretty confident I understood her role here at Montage. After all, I’ve been with the company myself for quite a few years, and we’ve often covered the benefits of our friendly, 24/7/365 live support for candidates and the hiring team in our marketing.  As Wendy spoke though, I began to see her role in a whole new light that could be described as closing the loop. Here’s how our conversation went:

Video Interviewing and Talent Acquisition: Where are We Today?

Talent acquisition is an ever-evolving industry. And the technologies that support it are no exception. While new tools are released daily, only a few rise to the top. Video interviewing, while not new, has secured its role as an instrumental component in any proactive recruitment strategy in the current talent acquisition landscape.  In the past few years, we’ve seen a plethora of information about video interviewing, so this is an ideal time to stand back and assess the role this technology plays in our industry.

Data Stacks Up for Video Interviewing's Impact on Healthcare Hiring

For hospitals and other healthcare facilities treating Medicare patients, the pressure to deliver better medical outcomes and higher levels of patient satisfaction has grown even higher with the pay-for-performance programs. According to a recent article, though 1,700 hospitals earned bonuses through the program, more than half will not receive extra funds due to penalties assessed for high patient re-admission rates and high rates of patient infections and injuries.  As cited in the article, consulting firm The Advisory Board Company estimates the average bonus for large hospitals (400+ beds) will be nearly $213,000, while the average penalty will be $1.2 million.

With the financial stakes so high, healthcare organizations can’t afford anything less than a top-rated staff capable of providing the best in patient care.  Several industry leaders are using innovative technology – a video interviewing solution designed specifically for talent acquisition – to elevate the quality of their workforce through improved hiring.

Live Voice Interviewing - A Better Way

Over the past several years, I've had the opportunity to work with amazing recruiting teams at some of the largest companies in the world. I've noticed two consistencies: They all perform phone interviews, and they all tell similar stories about how the process is time consuming and inefficient.

Imagine being a recruiter, staring at 50 phone screens which must be completed. The hiring manager is breathing down your neck – she needs a slate of top candidates yesterday! So you pick up the phone and start making 50 phone calls. What if there was a different way?

Recruiters, End Your Struggle to Fill Hourly Service Positions

Christmas definitely did not come in July this year for recruiters trying to fill hourly service positions. A new survey of almost 1,000 service industry professionals found that 70% struggle to identify top candidates for hourly positions, and three in five are unsatisfied with applicant quality.  In addition, 67% surveyed need more applicants than they receive. This is a familiar hiring scenario for healthcare TA teams, but retail recruiters seem to be feeling the pressure too.

Could Your Cat Steal Your Interview Thunder?

We all know the allure of cats doing funny things. I’m not ashamed to say a cat video has transfixed me from time to time, like that cat jumping from the table and missing the window sill? Gold! However, there is a time and place for cats, and your video interview with a potential employer is not one of them.

Patient Satisfaction: Score Big with Video Interviewing

In U.S. hospitals, it’s no longer enough to provide good patient care. To earn Medicare funding and avoid penalties, hospitals must ensure their patients feel satisfied with their care experience. This year, Medicare’s pay-for-performance programs move those patient impressions of care front and center as scores from the Patient Experience of Care domain now represent 30% of a health care provider’s Total Performance Score (TPS).
